Madison Academy Curriculum

Language Arts

The multisensory phonics program teaches writing and language skills simultaneously with reading. A strong emphasis is placed on the teaching of writing skills.

Math

A comprehensive program that provides students with a strong foundation and the skills necessary to succeed in school as well as in later life. Students learn problem-solving skills throughout the curriculum.

Science

A Laboratory-centered program with
a framework of themes provides for learning
complexities as students advance from level to level.

Social Studies

This program emphasizes developmental skills in economics, political science, anthropology, sociology, history, and geography as well as current events.

Library Skills

Students in grades 3K through 8th have weekly classes in basic library skills. The fully accredited library has resources available for all students, faculty, and staff
to use.

Music

Music classes are taught by a professional musician. All students participate in annual programs as well as individual class plays and skits.

Art

This program provides each student an opportunity for a sequential art learning experience to develop skills and techniques through the use of several media.

Computer Skills

Each student has instruction in computer literacy as well as the application of age-appropriate software programs in the media center. Also, students are able to use the Internet with teacher supervision.

Physical Education

This program provides opportunities for building physical, mental, social, and emotional aspects of each child. It develops good attitudes concerning fair play and sportsmanship, good body use through movement exploration, and cardiovascular and respiratory fitness for later life.
